Director General’s Message
It is my honour to serve as the Director General of the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA). This national institution lies at the heart of Pakistan’s cultural and artistic identity. I firmly believe that art has the power to connect, heal, and elevate society. It reflects who we are, where we come from, and the future we aspire to shape together.
At PNCA, our mission is not only to preserve Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage but also to build platforms for new and emerging creative voices from across the country. From the coasts of Sindh to the mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan, I want to see young artists, musicians, filmmakers, writers, designers, and performers step into the spotlight and take pride in their craft.
Under my leadership, we are committed to promoting inclusivity, access, and excellence in the arts. Whether through exhibitions, festivals, open calls, or workshops, PNCA is creating a space for the youth to express themselves and grow professionally. I believe that talent exists in every corner of Pakistan, it is our duty to find it, nurture it, and celebrate it.
I also hold a deep respect for our traditional arts, particularly traditional calligraphy, folk music, miniature painting, and indigenous crafts. These are not just aesthetic practices, but vessels of spiritual, historical, and cultural significance. As we promote contemporary art and modern storytelling, we must also honor and protect the classical roots that ground our national identity.
PNCA is not just a building, it is a living, breathing cultural platform open to all. It is a home for artists and audiences alike, where dialogue, diversity, and creativity thrive. Through collaborative programs, national celebrations, and cultural exchanges, we aim to foster unity and pride in Pakistan’s vibrant creative landscape.
I invite artists, curators, students, educators, cultural workers, and citizens from all walks of life to join us. Let us work together to make Pakistan’s arts and culture visible on the world stage and ensure that every voice, every craft, and every story has a place in our national narrative.
Muhammad Ayoub Jamali
